The short version
- We collect what we need to run a shared home planner: your account, the content you and your household add, and basic app diagnostics.
- Your household content is visible only to the members of your household.
- We don’t sell your data and we don’t show ads.
- Voice captures are sent to an AI provider to be turned into chores. We don’t store the audio.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app, or request deletion by email (how to delete your account).
Who we are
Eve & Cal (“Eve & Cal”, “we”, “us”) is a mobile app run by an independent team based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. For the purposes of India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data described in this policy. This policy covers the Eve & Cal apps for iPhone and Android and the website at evecal.in.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Account details: your email address and, if you sign in with Apple or Google, the account identifier and email those services share with us (with Sign in with Apple you can choose to hide your email). If you sign up with email, your password is stored only as a secure hash by our authentication provider.
- Profile: your display name, an optional profile photo and your time zone (used to schedule reminders at the right local time).
- Household content: your household’s name and members, invites, and everything you add to it: chores (titles, notes, categories, due dates, repeats, who claimed or completed them), photos attached to chores, gifts and gift ideas (recipient, occasion, notes, photos), staples and brands, and your shopping list.
- Contacts you save in the Vault: details you enter about people your household works with, such as names, roles, phone numbers, email and postal addresses, a map location, notes and, for household help, work schedules, pay amount, pay day, UPI ID and start date. Please only save details you have a right to keep, and tell the people concerned where it’s appropriate.
- Captures: the text you type or dictate, and the audio of voice captures, which we send for processing (see How we use it). Photos you scan to fill in a Vault entry (for example a visiting card, a product or a handwritten list) are processed in the same way.
- Support messages: what you send us by email or through the contact form on this website.
Information collected automatically
- Usage and diagnostics: screens viewed, features used, app version, device model and operating system, error reports and crash logs, linked to your account identifier.
- Session replays: to find and fix bugs, we record how the app’s screens are used. Text you type and images (including your photos) are masked in these recordings, so their contents are not captured. Technical logs and network timing information may also be collected.
- Notifications: a push notification token for your device, linked to your account, so we can send reminders and household updates.
- Purchases: if you subscribe to Premium, your subscription status, plan, purchase and renewal dates and store transaction identifiers. Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never receive your card or bank details.
Information we don’t collect
We don’t access your phone’s contact list (the app only reads the single contact you pick), your calendar, or your location in the background. We don’t use advertising identifiers, and we don’t buy data about you from anyone.
How we use it
- To provide the app: creating your account, syncing your household’s content across members’ devices, storing photos, and sending the reminders and notifications you’ve asked for.
- To turn captures into chores: voice audio, dictated or typed text, and scanned photos are sent to our AI provider, which returns suggested chores or Vault details. The audio is used only for that request and is not stored by us. The resulting text and chores are saved to your household.
- To run subscriptions: checking whether your household has Premium, applying capture allowances and handling renewals, trials and cancellations.
- To keep the app working and improve it: diagnosing crashes and bugs, understanding which features are used, and keeping the service secure and free from abuse.
- To talk to you: replying to support requests and sending important service notices (for example, changes to these terms).
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give when you create an account and use the app, and for the legitimate uses permitted by the DPDP Act, such as complying with law. You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account; this won’t affect processing that already happened.
We do not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or use your household content to train AI models.
Sharing in your household
Eve & Cal is built for sharing. Everyone in your household can see and edit the household’s chores, calendar, Vault and photos, and can see each member’s name and profile photo. When you invite someone, they get the same access. If you leave a household or delete your account, content you added to the household remains available to the remaining members, attributed to a former member, unless they delete it.
Service providers
We use a small number of trusted companies to run Eve & Cal. They process data on our behalf and only for the purposes below.
| Provider | What they do for us | Data involved |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication and server functions | Account, profile and household content |
| Cloudflare | Photo storage (R2) and hosting of this website | Photos you upload; website requests |
| Google (Gemini API) | Turning captures and photo scans into chores and Vault entries | Capture audio and text, scanned photos, your household’s member and category names |
| Apple and Google | Sign-in, app distribution, in-app purchases and on-device speech recognition | Sign-in identifiers, purchase records, dictated audio (under their own privacy policies) |
| RevenueCat | Managing subscriptions across the App Store and Google Play | Account identifier, purchase and subscription records |
| PostHog | Product analytics, error tracking and masked session replays | Account identifier, usage events, device information, diagnostics |
| OneSignal | Delivering push notifications | Account identifier, push token, notification content |
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others, or as part of a business transfer, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your data.
Device permissions
The app only asks for a permission when you use the feature that needs it, and you can change these at any time in your phone’s settings.
- Microphone and speech recognition: for voice captures.
- Camera and photos: to attach photos to chores, gifts, staples and your profile, and to scan items into the Vault.
- Location (while using the app): to pin a contact’s address on a map. Your location is looked up only when you ask for it and isn’t tracked.
- Notifications: for reminders and household updates.
Retention & deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account, profile, profile photo, push and subscription records, and analytics profile. If you’re the last member of your household, the whole household is deleted too, including its chores, Vault and photos. If other members remain, the household and its shared content stay with them.
Deletion takes effect immediately in the app. Residual copies in our providers’ encrypted backups are overwritten within their normal backup cycles (typically within 30 days). We may keep limited records where the law requires it, for example records of purchases.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by our infrastructure providers. Access to household data is enforced in the database, so members can only read their own household. Photos are served only to signed-in members of the household they belong to. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will notify you and the authorities of a personal data breach as the law requires.
International transfers
Some of our service providers store or process data outside India, including in the United States and the European Union. Where we transfer data abroad, we do so in line with the DPDP Act and with providers that offer appropriate protection.
Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it’s processed;
- Correct and update your data (most of it you can edit directly in the app);
- Erase your data by deleting your account;
- Withdraw consent at any time;
- Nominate someone to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to do so;
- Seek redress for a grievance, first with us and then with the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these, email arushi@xopet.com. We’ll respond within 30 days.
Children
Eve & Cal is meant for adults managing a home. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we’ll delete it.
This website
evecal.in doesn’t use advertising or analytics cookies. If you use the contact form, we receive the name, email and message you enter, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you’re not a bot.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this policy as Eve & Cal changes. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
Contact & grievances
Questions, requests or complaints about your personal data go to our Grievance Officer at arushi@xopet.com. We aim to acknowledge every request within 72 hours and resolve it within 30 days.
